The Broken Hill Block, a new structure and mineral exploration target areas

چکیده

The Broken Hill Block contains the Paleoproterozoic Willyama Supergroup, host to world-renowned lead–zinc–silver deposits known as Line of Lode. A new large-scale geological structural interpretation has been developed based on construction 11 regional-scale cross-sections and one longitudinal section. Over an extended period major folding during Olarian Orogeny, two distinct sets regional folds were produced. are similar-type mostly trend northeast. cross-folds subtle, at right angles open-style. Longitudinal in or near Lode have reinterpreted. newly interpreted slump fold, central Lode, allows correlation rock units from east west. well-known Western Anticline Eastern Syncline, which main normal drag folds, formed initial with their axes folded by later folding. lead lodes older than zinc lodes. We interpret previously mapped successive pulses within tectonic event. This resulted increased complexity a local scale, but not no substantive impact structure. Pitch plunge data used identify 23 cross-folds, some more 50 km long. Native Lead at Broken Hill, New South Wales, Australia

Native lead, a rare mineral, occurs in a late-stage vein in the world’s largest lead – zinc – silver deposit, at Broken Hill, Australia. The lead-bearing vein consists mainly of laumontite, quartz, biotite and muscovite, together with minor amounts of lead, galena, sphalerite, molybdenite, and rare allanite-(Ce). Three types of fluid inclusions have been identified: two-phase brine inclusions l...

“lag” a new classification system for concealed mineral exploration

lag is a general term applied to coarse grained (> 2 mm), hard, but partially weathered rockfragments, which are concentrated at the surface through attrition of finer materials. based on morphology, mineralogy and the origin of lag from the cobar region of australia, lag may be conveniently grouped intothree broad morpho-mineralogical categories; (a) those with a rough, blocky, lithic morpholog...

Managing environmental lead in Broken Hill: a public health success.

OBJECTIVES To describe locality-specific changes in blood lead levels of 1-4-year-old children in Broken Hill, NSW between 1991 and 2007. METHODS Annual age-sex standardised mean blood lead levels, blood lead screening clinic attendance rates and lead-dust levels for five lead-risk zones were calculated from routinely collected data. RESULTS Blood lead levels were similar in all localities ...
